A Glimpse Into the Mirror: A Sneak Peak from My Novel

Querying a novel is basically a long, slow descent into madness—with spreadsheets.

So while I sit here refreshing my inbox like a cryptid waiting for a sign from the publishing gods, I thought I’d share a little piece of The Mirror Between Us—just to remind myself (and you) why I started writing this story in the first place.

This book is dark, emotional, and a little broken—just like its characters. It’s about mirrors, grief, trauma, sisterhood, memory, and the slow unraveling of everything you thought was true.

Here’s a glimpse:

She found the journal under Helena’s bed—dusty, velvet-bound, the corners worn like it had been read too many times… or never at all.

Her fingers shook as she opened it.

They said the mirror was dormant. But I’ve felt it again—humming, watching. I think it remembers me.

Melissa’s breath caught.

On the next page, written in a different hand—sharper, unfamiliar:

Not all reflections lie. Some remember for us.

She snapped the book shut and backed away.

The mirror in the corner of the room hadn’t moved.

But she could’ve sworn it was listening.

If this gave you chills (or cracked your heart open just a little), good. That’s the kind of story The Mirror Between Us is trying to be.

Thank you for waiting with me, for reading, for caring.

And to the agents out there (if you’re somehow reading this)—yes, it’s dark. Yes, it’s about mirrors. But it’s also about surviving what tried to break you.

And that’s always a story worth telling.

Curious to know more?
Drop a comment, share your thoughts, or just tell me if that last line gave you chills.

And if you’ve ever had a moment where it felt like your past was staring back at you—like it remembered something you didn’t—I’d love to hear that too.
